Today was Logan’s second day of school, but it was Otto’s very first day. Logan took him for a little show and tell in which he explained that his family takes Otto on almost every vacation and captures memories with him in it. I guess things got a little rough and Otto took a dive head first onto the tile floor in the classroom. Luckily it was a clean break and we should be able to repair him easily.

I must say that despite the horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach, I’m somewhat enjoying the quiet that has fallen over the house for the past 2 hours. Logan and Gavin are having a little bit of shock-parenting after returning from their summer away from home with several very nasty habits (hitting, screaming, and talking back to name a few). Because Logan is being disobedient, he’s stuck in his room until :Jer gets home from work. Unfortunate for him, he will be home almost 2 hours later than usual.

Gavin is not taking his consequences very seriously… that or he’s just plain ole stubborn like his mom. Nevertheless he’s spending his third night in his room, coming out only for food and bathroom breaks. This is the punishment for hitting of any sort around here. He’s learning… but slowly.

As for me, the punishment is within. I hate having to be so hard on them but I know it’s for their own good. Their pain will forever break my heart. Let’s all just pray that they are good for the weekend so we can have another Diet Coke & Mentos Experiment.
