Last Friday I finally got my whining stifled when my BlackBerry buzzed to let me know that I had a new email from Frecklegirl inviting me to join Ravelry. I wasted no time and rushed out to sign up.
I had already been uploading photos of my projects and my yarn on to my flickr stream, so I was able to set out adding friends and projects and yarns and needles and patterns in a matter of minutes. After having a week to review, I really must say that I am very impressed with Ravelry. They have not only built a wonderful organizational tool for knitters (and crocheters), but also a great community. Ravelry is, without a doubt, an up and coming business for Casey and Jess. They have just built the next Flickr (which is an online community for photographers) and will be very successful.
So the new Knitty came out for Summer of 2007 and while there aren't a billion things I want to knit, there is one thing that made me drop what I was working on and race to finish this. It's the light mohair shawl called the Wisp.
I had a few balls of Classic Elite La Gran Mohair set aside for the Kiri shawl, and when that didn't work out, the 48 Hour Mohair shawl, but when I saw this I frogged what I was working on and started Wisp.
And then I finished it the next day:
I made this particular shawl for my Great Grandmother, Yetta. My Grandparents had mentioned that she is perpetually cold now that she's in an assisted living facility. We will be visiting her pretty soon so I thought I'd bring this shawl to her. It ended up not being as long as a full blown scarf, so I think it will be a great over the shoulder throw, or a nice lap blanket.

I'm very excited about making another, oh... 50 of these. I enjoyed the pattern, though I'm not sure if I like the eyelet rows. I'll have to see it in the yarn and color recommended.
I've also been looking for a new everyday knitting bag/purse combo and last night my darling husband asked if I'd want to buy one as our anniversary gift. I squealed with glee (ok I didn't squeal, I don't squeal) and set out to find a new bag. I'm up for any recommendations, but so far I'm eying the Namaste Everyday Knitting Bag or the Executive.
