Remember that thing I wasn't going to tell you all about? That surprise that I manged to keep? For like, a month!? That's a world record people. Seriously. But the good news is that I no longer have to be quiet!
Several weeks ago -Zarah was approached by our local 417 Magazine about an article on knitters and knitting in our area. She mentioned that the reporter wanted to get us together to take a picture of us knitting. So we let the photographer know where we were meeting, which due to a holiday was not our normal Knit Together knitting circle. The overly energetic photographer captured -Tammy, Elisha, and me as we knit and talked about the most recent patterns and knitting magazines that were out.
A few days later the reporter, Katie Pollock, rang me up and we chatted for almost half an hour about knitting, Knit Together, -Ravelry, and how I have been helping others learn how to knit. I told her that as much as I am teaching beginners, having Knit Together has really taught me a lot more. I've made new friends. Real Friends. Friends who love what I love. One friend may be the best sock knitter ever, while another friend knows all there is to know about sweaters. Knitting has really changed my life and blessed me.
At the end of my conversation with Katie, we agreed that I would write a beginner hat pattern to be published with the article. This hat is something like what I would teach a beginner to knit only now I have my own. The yarn, a skein of Noro Kureyon, was donated by Carol at -SF and my wonderful husband, Jer took some great photos of me in the finished hat.
