Today while tagging photos in Adobe Bridge I learned that it’s actually wildebeest and not wildabeast. I guess you can’t depend on phonics when you’ve been fighting a Southern Texas accent yer whole life.
Well it’s been so very long since I have posted here and there really is no other excuse besides the oh-so-common one in the blog community; I’m Busy. Busy with a capital B. In fact, BUSY with caps lock stuck on.
The week before last, Jer and I were trying to figure out where to go for the weekend. New York? New Mexico? California? Florida? We had it narrowed down to a few destinations but before we could even book the flights Jer got very sick and was hospitalized. He’s all better now – and by all better I mean like 89.4% better than he was before. The diagnosis is still a weighty shrug followed by a lot of, “We think…”’s and a few “I dunno”’s. But he’s feeling well enough to travel again so we’re packing up and heading out on Friday. Care to guess where?
Among various other incidents worth writing about (though this one I will get around to actually writing about) is the school lock-down we experienced yesterday. Because I’m JUST paranoid enough as it is, I won’t link to the news articles regarding what is herein referred to as The Incident. The Incident included a few teenagers who stole a car and a few guns and made serious, albeit generic, threats including the phrases “suicide mission” and “school” and the location in the area where my children attend school.
The superintendent had the school go into lock-down mode, meaning no one in and no one out, for several hours yesterday. I only heard about this because my friend sent a text message generically saying that my kids were apart of a lock-down. My next thought was how my 9 year old managed to escape school, steal a car, get caught, and be thrown into this “lock-down” all without my knowledge and within a few hours of being picked up by the school bus. Luckily that wasn’t the case and we can thank God that nothing materialized from the threats.
I couldn’t help but remember when I was in high school and the superintendent was my principle. I wondered if he ever got tired of dealing with these kinds of things. Every year there are fights, skip days, arguments, smoking behind the gym, and hickies to be band-aided. I’m pretty sure I know why people love to teach Kindergarten. It's still so innocent.
Speaking of... Why didn't the elephant have a very good vacation?
