Weekends without kids are rare so we savor every moment of quiet alone time that we have together. We spent the day running errands that we wouldn’t otherwise want to drag the kids along for. Exhausted with the thought of spending more time in public, we returned home to cuddle up where we could be alone together.
After a movie intermissioned with strawberries and whipped cream for desert (we are so predictable), we found ourselves tangled up into a most comfortable position where we could ignore the clock as it struck midnight. We were talking about our future and all of the wonderful dreams that we have, noticing that they always seem to collide with each other.
After a long quiet moment where love seemed to linger in the air, he unwound himself from my arms and dropped to one knee to propose to me. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect moment to say YES! even if there were cherubs singing and rose petals falling from the sky.
I’m a simple complex girl. The true romance I enjoy comes from the heart, not from elaborately orchestrated productions. With :Jer, my life is filled with romance every day because of the little things he does for me. Holding my coat so I can slip my arms in. Opening the car door and kissing me before I get in. Holding my hand during church. Walking me to my car every night before I go home. All of these romantic things I hope to never take for granted.
With that… a simple proposal, an intricate dream come true.
