On Sunday night I went to bed after taking some Tylenol cold medicine to stifle the cold that had taken over my body this weekend. Apparently there is something in the "daytime" cold medicine that keeps you awake because I barely slept a wink all night. That is, until around the time that the medicine wore off around 4 am. I don't know about the rest of you, but I have a very hard time getting out of REM and into the shower after only two hours of sleep.

That set the rest of my day to be an actual Monday. You know, the kind where you drop your keys on the floor for the thirty-seventh time and when you lean down to get them you split your pants and as you jump back up you whack your head on the edge of the cabinet door you left open while attempting to jump start your Monday with a cup of harsh coffee. Not that anything like that happened to me yesterday...

In an effort to avoid such a painful and humiliating Tuesday, I took my husbands advice and had a bit of Nyquil right before bed. I sat down on the couch and knit on the Oblique for a few rows when I realized just how drowsy I was. I think I'll just lay my head down right here for a few moments. And maybe I'll stretch my legs out too. Where's that blanket? Before I knew it I was sound asleep.

That's it.

I don't remember going to my bed. I don't remember brushing my teeth - if I brushed my teeth! I don't remember getting undressed - which as it turns out I didn't. I woke up in still wearing my bra and undershirt, underwear and one sock. I guess it was just too much to get that other sock off before crawling into bed.

For the rest of the night I slept like a baby. I slept like I did before I had kids. I slept like I did before the rooster went blind. I slept like I did before I had a roommate (and by roommate I of course mean husband). I slept.

I slept with no dreams. No waking up to wipe my runny nose with a tissue that I stashed under my pillow. I'm not even sure that I moved or repositioned myself (as evidenced by the crink in my neck this morning). I finally got up around 7 which is one full hour later than normal. Jer said he'd been trying to wake me up for a while, but I wouldn't have it.

Of course when I woke up I felt so much better than I had in days. It's amazing what a good nights rest will do for you. While I still have a runny nose, cough, sore throat, and myriad of other annoying cold and/or flu symptoms, I still fell a thousand percent better.

Thank you, Nyquil.

Glad you are feeling better! Nyquil is good stuff, I always take it when I'm sick. My problem is that it wears off on me and I wake up after 4 hours feeling great and wide awake, of course it's only 2am! So I usually have to take another dose.

Hooray for sleep! I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. Unfortunately, Nyquil only lasts about half the night for me, so I always wake up at 3am dazed and disoriented.

I LOVE Nyquil! But I liked it even better before they changed the formula so they wouldn't have to put it behind the counter. :( But yes - it works!!!!!

Glad you're feeling better! I think you may have breathed on me this weekend 'cause now I'm stuffy head/sneezing/coughing. . . can I borrow some Nyquil?
